Excise/ service tax payment due date

DEAR SIRS,

WE NEED TO PAY EXCISE & SERVICE TAX LATEST BY 6TH OF EVERY MONTH.

AS 6TH MAY IS ON SUNDAY, CAN WE MAKE PAYMENT ON 7TH?

WILL WE HAVE TO PAY INTEREST ON DELAYED PAYMENT IN THAT CASE?

KINDLY REVERT BACK.

Service/ Central Excise due date is 6th for Online Payment. For making online payment, you can pay on Sunday also. There is no extension from the department if due date is on sunday.

Now payment of Service Tax can be made through online. Hence there is no issue of Sunday now.

In such case The due date is 5th of May & in case of online submission 6th May

Sunil's opinion is very good. You can make payment today along with interest for 1 day delayed payment if online other wise 2 days.

Whether due date of payment of Excise duty & Service tax is 5th or 6th and what is the rate of interest on delay payment

Due date for Online Payment is 6th and rate of interest is 1.5% Per Month. (Cheque payment due date is 5th)

Interest rate remains same as 1.5% Per Month (18% p.A)

ok i agree with all but my question is 6th day is govt.holiday and we can not pay online because we have not balance in account but we have cah in hand so what should do at this time.........

You have only one option.

Deposit on bank account on 7th and pay thru online with interest @ 18% P.a. If you didnot pay online on 6th whether it is public holiday or not, you have to pay interest on payment of 7th.
