 How can i set a password on excel file?

like when i want to open file it require password and without password it does not show any content.

open the excel sheet

press F12..

this will open the "save as" dialog box..

to the top right hand corner u wud get properties or genereal options.. set password from der...

set password both for modification as well as opening the doc..

Also, there are two passwords:

1. Password to open

2. Password to modify.

You can use both the passwords as per your need. ie if you want people to only VIEW your file and not edit it, you can use it accordingly.

go to TOOLS > PROTECTION

dere u can protect only one sheet or the whole workbook

u cn define extent of protection also

hope it will help u out.....

There is another easy way.

Go to Tools > Options and select the Security Tab. You will have a dialog box for setting password both for open and modify.

Then you can save the file.
