Hi Amit,

The error message "Nature in other expenses at Sr. 11 in Sheet Part A - P&L Ind AS is mandatory" indicates that the Income Tax Return (ITR) form you are filling requires you to specify the nature/category for the amount entered under "Other Expenses" in your Profit & Loss statement (Part A - P&L Ind AS sheet).

This is common with ITR forms that have schedules for P&L where each expense needs a descripttion or nature code to be filled for proper categorization.

Why this error occurs:

  • You have entered a figure (or zero) in the Other Expenses row but haven’t selected or entered the nature/category of the expense.

  • The ITR Excel utility or online form expects you to specify the nature of the expense for that row.

  • Even if the amount is zero, some forms still require you to select the nature.

How to fix the error:

  1. Open the Excel ITR form and navigate to the Part A - P&L Ind AS sheet.

  2. Look for Sr. 11 - Other Expenses row.

  3. Check if there is a column for "Nature" or "Descripttion" adjacent to the amount column.

  4. Select/Enter the appropriate nature/category from the dropdown or manually (like "Administrative expenses," "Legal expenses," "Professional fees," or simply "Others").

  5. If the amount is zero, still choose a valid nature or leave it blank only if the form allows.

  6. If you want to avoid entering details for zero amount, try removing the zero and keeping the cell blank if the form permits.

  7. Save the form and validate again.

Additional tips:

  • If the form insists on a nature even when the amount is zero, select something generic like "Others" or "Not applicable."

  • Check if you have the latest version of the ITR utility, sometimes bugs cause this.

  • Review the instructions in the ITR utility about filling the P&L Ind AS sheet.
