Error c000005

A/c entries 94 views 1 replies

Hello everyone, Earlier, I have deleted entries in a company created in tally. In the same company, I have been trying to delete some entries but I keep getting an error pop up. I would like to know what is the reason for the problem and of course the solution to this problem too, FYI I am able to delete entries in the same company, but not some particular vouchers.. I would really appreciate if someone could help me and show me how to solve this error

Hi Rajesh,

The error c0000005 (Memory Access Violation) in Tally usually indicates that the software tried to access a part of the computer's memory that it wasn’t allowed to. This typically happens due to:

  • Corrupted data or vouchers

  • Software glitches or bugs

  • Insufficient permissions or system conflicts

Since you mentioned this happens only with some particular vouchers and not all, it’s likely those vouchers are corrupted or linked to other transactions preventing deletion.

Possible causes & solutions:

  1. Voucher Corruption:

    • Sometimes vouchers get corrupted due to unexpected shutdowns or file errors.

    • Try running the "Verify Company Data" and "Fix Company Data" utility in Tally:

      • Gateway of Tally > F3: Company Info > Repair Company > Verify Data

      • If issues found, then use Fix Company Data.

  2. Linked Entries or Dependencies:

    • The voucher might be linked to other transactions like payments, receipts, or inventory entries.

    • Try to check if the voucher is referenced elsewhere; deletion won’t be allowed if dependencies exist.

    • Try to delete the linked transaction first, if possible.

  3. User Rights & Security Control:

    • If you are using Tally with security control enabled, ensure your user rights allow deleting those vouchers.

    • Check under Gateway of Tally > Security Control > User Roles and Permissions.

  4. Backup & Restore:

    • Take a backup of your company data.

    • Restore the backup and check if the problem persists.

  5. Update Tally:

    • Make sure you are using the latest Tally version. Sometimes older versions have bugs fixed in newer releases.

  6. Contact Tally Support:

    • If nothing works, the best step is to contact Tally Solutions directly.

    • Provide them the company data file and error details for deep troubleshooting.

Summary for quick check:

Step Action
1. Verify & Fix Data Gateway of Tally > F3 > Repair Company > Verify & Fix Data
2. Check Linked Vouchers See if vouchers are referenced in other transactions
3. Check User Rights Security Control settings for deletion rights
4. Backup & Restore Backup company data and restore to test
5. Update Tally Upgrade to latest Tally release
6. Contact Support Tally Solutions if issue persists
