Completion of articleship is mandatory

 Completion of GMCS is not pre-requisite for CA Final. GMCS can be done after appearing or passing CA Final.

Completion of GMCS is pre-requisite for Membership at ICAI.

You may undergo GMCS in the new course during the last 12 months of article, but it is not pre-requisite for Final Exams.. Even if you dont attend before Final Exams, you are eligible for the Exams..
