Efiling of Service Tax Returns

You need to take a password from the department and after that return can be filed electronically.

But regarding the site it seems that there is a permanent problem . it doesnt work.

The service tax return can be filed electronically after logging into website www.servicetaxefiling.com. The assessee shall obtain usder -ID and log-in password from the deparment. A simple application may be made to the jurisdictional Central Exicise officer, giving detail of STC No, and an E-mail ID. The Department would communicate the User -ID and Password along with the technical details required for accessing the relevent site and the procedure for making entries and other guidance as may be necessary to the taxpayer by e-mail.

 The correct site is https://exciseandservicetax.nic.in/

Where ever you go, you will not be able to file returns electronically. Sites maintained by department is not working for most of the time.
