not just UPS.. switch off inverters too.. and all the switches..please..

In india, most of the power is created from hydel energy.

But do u know its harmful effects?

hydel energy may seem to be causing no air or water pollution. But it does have an environmental impact. Hydroelectric power plants may harm fish populations, change water temperature and flow (disturbing plants and animals) and force the relocation of people and animals who live near the dam site. Some fish, like salmon, may be prevented from swimming upstream to spawn. Technologies like fish ladders help salmon go up over dams and enter upstream spawning areas, but the presence of hydroelectric dams changes their migration patterns and hurts fish populations. Hydropower plants can also cause low dissolved oxygen levels in the water, which is harmful to river habitats. Reservoirs may also lead to the creation of methane, a harmful greenhouse gas.

So if we all save swtich off all the appliances for just 1 hour.. We actually are not just saving electricity but aquatic life too..

Thank you Onam for the reminder....if we all switch off all the Electric Appliances for 1hr it will make a great difference and will save the planet to some extent...

Thank you Onam Ji.......once again..for the info...

One thing i noticed which was really sad.....I saw that in all platforms all the fans are always running even when there is no people. Huge waste of electricity....

Yes sanjay sir.. I have noticed this too..

I have inculcated this habit that whenever i go from the room i switch off all the lights and fans

even when i am in college and i m the last one to leave. i would switch off all the switches..smiley

It is doubtful whether the poilcy makers would rise above making self-interest-driven policies, any time soon. The onus, therefore, rests upon us to save our big home - The Earth. Unfortunately, an earthquake or a Tsunami or any natural calamity does not discriminate between the good and the evil. So, we, the common man, must enliven our virtues out of necessity - an extremely important one at that.
