e way bill applicanility & method of generation

Hi all,

Has e way bill concept been made mandatory and has it been replaced by Ds-2 which the party who initiate movement of goods inter state was made to issue under dvat?
If e way bill has been made mandatory , then who all needs to get registered and what is the procedure for generating e way bill above 50,000?
