E verification of assessee who has passed away.

Dear all

The assessee had filed the IT return on time which had a TDS refund. However, the assessee had passed away, and has not e-verified the filed tax return. Should the return be filed again? How to claim refund and communicate to the department re the death of the assessee. Request any thoughts/comments on the above.
