Can we prepare E-way bill on the basis our regular invoice and generate E-invoice next day.

No, if E-Invoice is applicable in your case then generate an E-way bill on the basis of E-invoice and then start the movement,
If wou were not making any movement of goods then E-invoice can be the day the next day.
