Hi,

Please advice on the below:

I have income from salary and interest income and hence have filed my return online in ITR 1 - SAHAJ. However, I have some liquid mutual funds with daily dividend reinvestment option and the amount of dividend (which is exempt from tax) reinvested during the year is in excess of Rs. 10K. As per the new amendments, should I have filed ITR 2? What can I do now, since I have already done the filing?

Is the new amendment applicable for filings of AY 13-14 or AY 14-15?

Dear Disha,

you can now revise the return by filing form ITR 2. mention the date and the Ack no of the ITR 1 that you have filed.

Hi Ankit,

So under ITR-2, DO I mention the dividend income (dividend reinvestment from liquid mutual funds) under schedule OS along with the interest income? I have already mentioned the same in schedule EI.

If I do so, the utility is not exempting the dividend income on its own.

Please guide.

Hi Disha,

the dividend mentioned in the OS schedule, relates to taxable dividend e.g div. from foreign companies etc. hence if you mention it in this schedule, it will take it as taxable

but the dividend recd by you is exempt. so just mention the same in the EI schedule and leave dividend part in the OS schedule blank.
