The ‘due-date’ for filing of income tax return for Assessment Year 2015-16 was extended till 31st August, 2015 vide Order F.No. 225/154/2015/ITA-II dated 10th June, 2015 in case of those taxpayers who were required to file the tax return by 31st July, 2015.

The government today extended the last date for filing Income Tax return by a week to September 7. "Due date for filing Income Tax return extended till 7th Sep, 2015," the Finance Ministry said in a tweet. The earlier date was August 31.
Earlier, the Income Tax department had extended the last date for filing I-T returns by residents of Gujarat to September 7 following disruption of normal life due to agitation over reservation to Patel community in the state.

but in the income tax official website,notification shows the extension only for gujarat state. i cant see the notification appling to whole india.
On the efiling website, check order u/s 119 dated 2nd sept
