I bubbled the answers in the OMR with pencil that too somewhat lightly.

The concern regarding light pencil shading on an OMR sheet is a common source of anxiety, but it is unlikely to cause a problem with your evaluation.

Key Points Regarding OMR Evaluation:

  • Scanning Technology: ICAI uses Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) scanners to process these sheets. These machines are designed to detect the graphite in HB pencils. While you are instructed to darken the circles thoroughly to ensure the machine reads the mark clearly, a "somewhat light" shade is generally still detectable by modern scanners.

  • No Disqualification: There is no rule stating that light shading leads to the rejection or non-evaluation of your sheet. The primary concern is simply that the mark is dark enough for the optical sensor to register it.

  • Manual Intervention: If an OMR sheet has issues that the machine cannot read (such as very faint marks, double-bubbling, or damaged paper), there are protocols in place for manual verification or oversight to ensure that the student's intent is captured correctly.

Recommendations for Future Exams:

  • Follow Instructions: In future exams, always prioritize the instructions provided on the admit card and the OMR sheet itself. Use a standard HB pencil and ensure the circles are filled completely and darkly.

  • Avoid Pens on OMR: Ensure you only use a pencil for the MCQ bubbles. Do not use ink or gel pens on the OMR portion, as these can smudge or bleed, potentially confusing the scanner or damaging the sheet.

  • Focus on Upcoming Papers: Since the exam has already been attempted, there is nothing more you can do regarding the sheet. Worrying about it will not change the outcome. Shift your focus entirely to your preparation for remaining or future papers.

Summary: Your OMR sheet will be processed by machine scanners which are typically sensitive enough to detect pencil marks. Unless the shading was so faint that it was essentially invisible, your answers should be evaluated as intended.
