Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies whether donations made to an Association of Persons (AOP) can be claimed as a deduction under Chapter 6A of the Income Tax Act. To be eligible for a deduction, the AOP must be registered under Section 12A and have obtained specific permission under Section 80G. If the registration number or 80G exemption status isn't immediately apparent on the donation receipt, it's advisable to check the document's footer or contact the donee organisation directly for confirmation.
