Does ITR2 take much longer for processing

Yes

ITR 2 has to undergo lot of verification from AIS because lot of other details not in ITR 1 have to be verified in ITR2

ITR 2 is for individuals and HUFs with income from business/profession (though not eligible for presumptive taxation, capital gains, etc. making it potentially more complex than ITR1 so might take a bit longer due to its complexity or the specifics of your return. 

Yesterdays news is that only 40% of returns have been processed till 20th August out of more than 3 crore returns already submitted and everified by the public

Probably, even AI is having a tough time processing the returns generated through the buggy utilities this year.

That's a very common question, and it's understandable to be concerned about delays. As others have mentioned in this thread, ITR2 is used for individuals with more complex income sources, so it can sometimes take longer to process compared to simpler forms.

The key is to regularly check the status of your return on the official income tax portal. Making sure all the information is correctly filled out and verified is crucial. Sometimes a minor discrepancy can cause a hold-up. Hopefully, your return gets processed soon!

Thanks for your 2 bits. But do note the following:-

It is not possible to recheck/change the data after ITR is already filed and verified. 

And, unless the processing starts, where is the question of any small discrepancy holding up the processing.

Earlier in this month of August I had filed 2 ITR1, one for myself & one for a relative.

Both got processed recently, 1 took 15 days & the other 21 days, from filing to receiving intimation of processing by email & SMS.

You all loosing sleep.

Any lucky one's ITR-2 got processed yet?

Plenty ITR-1 processed I am hearing, and filers got refunds credited promptly.

Good news for all having filed ITR-2

CPC has started processing the ITR-2 and many including myself got processed U/S 143/1 and refund processed and credited within 2 hours after time of processing and issue of intimation.

For myself, it has taken a total of 39 Days after eVerification for processing to take place.

So keep this time frame in mind.
