To apply for an NRI PAN card, you need to visit the online TIN portal and select the appropriate application form based on your citizenship. After providing the necessary details, including uploading essential documents and making the payment, you will receive an acknowledgement slip with a 15-digit number. This number can be used to check the status of your application at a later stage.
Documents required for NRIs with or without Indian citizenship to apply for a PAN card:
- Identification proof (Aadhaar card, Voter ID, or Driving License)
- Address proof (passport copy, bank account statement in the resident country or NRE bank account statement copy)
- 2 recent passport-size photographs
- Copy of PIO or OCI card
For foreign citizens with an Indian office address, the following additional documents are required:
- Appointment letter copy issued by the Indian office
- An authorized copy of the original address certificate issued by the Indian employer
- PAN card details of the employer for online verification
If the fee for the PAN application is paid offline, a demand draft needs to be attached with the application.
