Do individuals have to deduct tds?

TDS 317 views 4 replies

1) I am a Resident Individual

2) I am retired and do not have Income from Business and Profession.

3) I am getting renovation done in my flat and paying the contractor 2,00,000/- for the work done.

4) Am I liable to deduct TDS from the Contractor (who is also an Individual)??

Thanks

NO. No TDS liability over you....

agree with Dhiraj Lal sir, in your case you are not liable. where individual purcahse flat then TDS deduction liablity over to purchaser whether it is individual .
No need deduct TDS...
No TDS to be made u/s 194C as it clearly mention that if payment is of personal nature (not for business) then no need to deduct tax at source.
