Is dividend received from InvITs is taxable income for the shareholder?

Quick Summary
Following the tax reforms implemented on April 1, 2020, dividends received from Infrastructure Investment Trusts (InvITs) are now considered taxable income for shareholders. This marks a shift from the previous system where the company distributing the dividend was liable for the Dividend Distribution Tax (DDT).

April 1, 2020 DDT was shifted from company to shareholders, opposite to the previous arrangement where company is subject to dividend distribution tax and shareholders pay nothing.
