You need to find a practising CA for joining articleship but If you visit some regional offices, you will find the articleship vacancies
You can refer CCI, ICAI online portal for vacancies
Now for the type of knowledge, in my opinion you need to obtain all kind of experiences like statutory audit, internal audit, bank audits etc....
