The important thing here is you should have a good hold over the concepts, without that even if you solve 100 problems you'll be stumped if the institute asks a new type of problem. So whichever book you get first go through the theory part and learn the concepts thoroughly.
I'm using AN Sridhar's book and it's very good. concepts are given in table form after every elaborate topic. it has good number of illustrations too.
On thing you should make sure is that, if a problem is solved differently in the reference book and institute pm always go with the method followed in institute material.
I suggest you to get AN Sridhar's book and do pm along with it although most of the problems are the same in both of them.
