Email subject income declaration scheme 2016

Dear everyone

I got an email from DONOTREPLY @ incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in with the subject as Income declaration scheme 2016. The contents of the email were as follows:-

E-sahyog

Dear Taxpayer,

Declare undisclosed income under income declaration scheme 2016. Get immunity from enquiry and prosecution. Scheme open till 30/09/2016. Visit www.incometaxindia.gov.in for details.

I presume this is just a generic email sent to all Tax efilers. Hence need to clarify if there is anyone else who has also recieved such an email.

I had already filed my returns and there is no undisclosed income.

Please let me know if anyone else also got such an email.

Got the same email in my spouse's email account who does not have any income (forget undisclosed).
Interestingly, I haven't filed my return yet and I did not get any such email in my account.
So it's open to analysis why this email was sent to certain accounts...

Relax guys it's just an awareness mail send by ITD to all the e filers . I too received it. It aims to aware you about the scheme and avail the benefits of it if you any such undeclared income. So don't panic if you don't have any undeclared income.

My Dad who is a retired govt employee got it too. But no one else in my family received this. I hope income tax official won't harrass common people in coming days.

As in the above posts it has been mentioned by some that this is just an awareness mail. Even I too am of the same opinion and hence wanted to confirm if others too have recieved such an email.

I too received this email and was a bit concerned. I've a couple of FDs whose interest earning was not shown while filing IT returns (under the other income section). By not declaring the bank's FD interest and savings interest during tax returns filing in the previous years, will this also be considered as undisclosed income? Does this need to be declared now as IDS?

Talked to income tax call center, they said that they are sending it in bulk, I asked why to specific people for this they didnt have any answer. He continued by focussing on land transactions. So probably people who have bought land and have not reported, though my father didnt buy any land still he received it. Very strange.

This email is more of a generic email to make efilers aware that such IDS scheme exists. Its not an intimation of any kind. Its basically a bulk email for information purposes. As far as the IDS is concerned I read they will target high value transactions of 50 lakh and above. IDS is mostly for black money transactions. Normal average salaried people will not have to worry I guess. Read this link

Thanks for this information . I have also received the same email yesterday and was thinking it as notice ,now based on your above post that this is general email for all e-filer. but still not everyone received this email I have checked from my other friends. I have properly filing the income tax on my salary and fd and saving interest each year. Thanks for confirmation

I have also called up the CPC and they told me its a generic email sent to all everyone and it can be deleted. I suggest you also call and clarify with the CPC

emails are general awareness to the public. The undisclosed income means only those who are having taxable income in the previous financial years.
