Dear Prarthana,
ICAI likes to test your ability and proficiency on the concepts in this subject. Be thorough with your concepts in this subject. Focus on amendments and concentrate on important chapters such as Assessment Procedure, Profits and Gains from Business and Professions, Capital Gains, Minimum Alternate Tax, Taxation of a Non Residents. Always keep revising, 1 thorough reading and 2 revisions are a must. If you have done an articleship and taken it seriously and pursued it seriously, you will reap some benefit from it for sure.
Also, Read Supplementary Study Paper, Research Test Paper, Recent Case Laws, and if time permits go through Practice manual as it has been noticed that is the past few Question Papers some questions were from the Practice Manual.
We recommend Vinod Gupta for reference.

Lets follow Parento technic,
For MAY 2015 Attempt.
1.DT case law Approx-16 marks, Do Supreme court judgements firstly,even RTP has one which is most important.
2.Amendments are very much sums oriented like AMT or Business Trust, which can easily weigh 30-40 marks (Sums & Conceptual amendments)
3.Wealth Tax 10 marks.Do defination of Asset throughly.
This all will bring you near 60-65 marks.
