Hi,

Members of CCI I want to clerify that if STPI is Govt authority den why it is charging service tax on its received payment by our firm i mean to ask dr is an exemption if service provider is Govt authority den dr is exemption nt to charged service tax.

Swati : How come you state that a government department being a service provider cannot charge or should not charge service tax. ? Kindly elaborate.

Ohkz....I read the circular nd found dat if service provider is RBI nd international organisation den nt required to pay service tax

BUT THAT MUST BE ONLY FOR RBI AND INTERNATIONAL BODIES AND ACCORDING TO ME ITS NOT FOR ALL GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES

Yes, madam. STPI is a govt authority. So there is no need to deduct TDS.
