Dear Friends

I’m in a big dilemma whether to quit job and prepare for exams…A small background of me will help you...in giving suggestions.

I have completed my CA Inter in 2003 and went for job in abroad for last 7 years..came back to India in October 2010 with the hope to prepare and appear for exams .

I initially joined classes for may 2011 exams but could not attended the classes successfully and hence had to give up my may 2011 attempt. I also got job in India (Chennai) with a MNC and was doing full time job from December  ..meanwhile I realized the importance of CA final exams and ultimately resigned the full time job in May .. same time the company retained me as a consultant on part time basis –where I have to work only 3 hours per day.

During this period I also joined classes for FA,SFM,AMA,DT and was successful in attending the classes though could not study and revise what has been taught in the classes..either on the same day or the consecutive day…

I was planning to prepare for exams from October but due to family engagements and other unavoidable events …during the period of last 2 months i.e October and November I could not prepare for exams as I planned but was able to cover something.

Now friends please suggest me is it possible to cover the whole syllabus in next 5 months and the strategy to be followed to successfully appear for MAY 2012 exams .. I wish to appear for both groups.

I also plan to resign my present job to concentrate only on exams..

Dear Sankar,

Currently I am working in a MNC as Manager.

I had cleared my CA Inter in 1994. Thereafter till 1995 I had appeared for CA Final but could not complet it. Then I joined service in industry. Till 2005 I could not manage to study due to family priorities and earning responsibility.

Thereafter in the current job I managed to get 15 to 25 days leave for exam and in 3 attempts I cleared my Final 1st Group in Nov 2006.

For Final 2nd group I got exemption in Costing in Nov 07 exam which was lapsed in June 2009. Again I Got exemption in Costing in May 10 exam with an exam leave of 15 days. The Nov 11 attempt was my last attempt for carry forward of Costing exemption. Therefore I took leave of around 3.5 months (leave without pay) and attended classes at Pune and appeared for the exam. Hoping the positive result this time.

You have to decide whether to resign from the job or not based on your priorities, earning requirement and other family responsibilities.

But surely for appearing in both the groups you need to work hard for atleast 12 hrs a day. If possible join a library or study group. DT and IDT are the subjects in which you get benefited by group study. For ISCA you need to remember the point wise details of all the chapters.

Costing I will suggest you to do throuh ICAI study material and practice mannual. It will help you to get through understanding of concepts and master knowledge for application of it.

Hope this will help you in preparing for 2nd group.

Best Wishes,

Ghanshyam

Thanks Mr Ghanshyam  ! for your encouraging words and all the best for your results yes

Hi Sankar,

Even i am facing the same dilemma as you are... I have decided to join crash course during the last 2 months. Many people have advised me not to quit job. So, I will have to manage both work and study.

With best wishes,

Vikrant

I get appointment in the "Assam State Electricity Board" as Asstt. Accounts Officer.. The office timing is 10am-5pm. My CA Final attemt is due on May 2013... Should I join the Job?
