Hello,

I have received Income tax adjustment intimation from Income tax today saying my refund for AY2013-14 (I have a refund of around Rs.60,000) has been adjusted against the outstanding demands. When I checked the details, it says there is a demand of 232 for AY 2008. I came to know about this demand after seeing this mail only.

I am going to verify my documents, on why there is a demand of 232 for that year. I had 2 Form-16s that year, and the tax calculations were done by an accountant and I have paid the tax within time.

Now, I am not sure on what to do now ? Can I pay this 232 online? If i am paying this, will the Income tax department will process my current refund ?

Dear Sreedhar,

If refund amount is 60,000 and pending tax payable for 232, they can adjust only tax pyable of 232 of 2008 with interest and penalty, balance they need to refund. Kindly check in NSDL/Income tax website for refund status.

Thanks for the reply.

I have checked the Refund Status and it says "The officer has not sent the Refund to Banker." Not sure, if it takes more time to update in this website.

Do you suggest me to wait for a little while and see if the refund come through?
