Deleting multiple entries is slow

A/c entries 405 views 10 replies

Hello everyone,

I am trying to delete some entries in my tally and it is taking an hour to delete 1000 entires. I would like to know why is it taking so long and is there a way to delete the entries faster. fyi My tally is not connected to any server.

I was suggested to change the hard disk but I assume that there is any other option.

Seems memory is slowed either by loose connection (hardware problem), or by working with other programs running simultaneously.

Select 50 to 100 in one go and repeat the process till all entries are deleted

I did that but as the entries per day is around 1000 it is taking at least 20-25 minutes to delete 1000 entries. Just imagine how many hours it will take to delete selected 40,000 entries

Why you are deleting that many entries?

Mistake can be in one or two entries and for 40k entries

I usually import entries to tally using an application. Some of the entries which were imported needed to be replaced with the corrected entries and hence I have to delete those entries and re import the correct entries.

I think you are right. The hardware seems to be corrupted (C;\Drive). Will try in some other laptop or shift the Tally folder to some other drive and try.

👍🏻👍🏻

Another folder in same machine will not solve the issue.

Either new laptop or get RAM changed in same unit.

Finally found the reason as to why it was taking so much time to delete the vouchers. As there were around 40,000 vouchers to be deleted and when I deleted 1000 vouchers at a time, tally had to change and give the new automatic voucher numbers. I think that this took time to delete and give new voucher numbers. I assume that can only be the reason for tally to delete the vouchers at a snail's speed.
