Delay in itr processing and refund

I have filed my ITR in july-18 for ay 2018-19 and it was duly everified..but till now the itr is not processed and it is almost 4 months but yet to be processed and refund is to be made..i have been filing ITR for almost last 20 years but never it was delayed..Can some experts give their views on the reasons for the delay. my attempts to enquire CPC is not materealising as the phone is busy or therte is no response from them..kindly suggest what to do as my refund to the tune of a lakh is struck..regards

Put a self greivance from your account and get confirmation or mail them, they respond to mails

for residents one possible reason is on test check basis a few returns out of 1000 are held up for further validation in relation to deductions claimed.
doubtful cases r marked and then processed and after processing notice will arrive for proof of deductions.
secnond scenario is small difference from 26 As eve 36 rupees r held up indefinitely and ultimately processed after rectification.
some return last year were never processed even after 1 year.
only God knows the truth.
senior members can help us.

retired people with no salary income govt staff armed forces staff ex employees of armed forces returns r held up to make sure deductions claimed are not inflated.
moreover in many cases 26 As was not updated with correct tds figures and un many cases tds have gone into wrong pan number.
dept us waiting for corrected updated 26 As for further processing.

HERE GUESS WORK IS OF NO VALUE AND IT WILL AGITATE THE MINDS OF TAX PAYER.
ONLY EXPERIENCED MEMBERS CAN THROW LIGHT.
I KNOW REAL CASES WHERE RETURED GIVT EMPLOYEES FILING RETURNS METICULOUSLY YEAR AFTER YEAR R ALSO HELD UP.

Like you I had filed my return for AY 18-19 in July 2018 and it had not been processed. I'm happy to report that just yesterday I was intimated regarding refund forwarded to my bank... So looks like they have started processing all the pending returns.
