Return for AY 2015-16 declared as defective due to some amount of tax was still to be paid. Due tax paid on 01 Apr 17 as could not pay on 31 Mar 17 due to connectivity issues. And because of this, the revised return could not be filed by 31 Mar 17. Now when I am trying to file return, the website says last date for filing return over. What is the way out or what needs to be done?

File rectificatiion request u/s. 154
I think Rectification cannot be filed as the return has not been processed. File a return u/s 139 (9) in compliance to the said defective notice. For this while uploading the new X M L file include the details of tax payment. The defect will be cured.
