Deduction u/s 80c - tution fees

A person has paid tution fees of Rs 200,000 in a FY 2011-12 as a college fees. He wants to claim the deduction under section 80C of Rs 100,000 each in his income tax return and a similar deduction he wants to claim in his wife's return.

Can he do so??

Yes, he can claim the the deduction of Rs.100000/- in his return and similarly, his wife can claim the same, provide the fee paid should relate to them self only as deduction is not available for spouse.
