Deduction on invoice

My company provides software services.

To one of client comany, I sent an invoice of amount Rs. 30,000. The client company deducted Rs. 3,000 as tax. I provided our Service Tax registration number also in the invoice.

I think they should not deduct any amount. Even then I am not sure. Need your suggestion.

Thanks.

We do maintain their server and website. Even then TDS applicable? If so, how can we claim for it?

Dear Mrinmoy,

Even if you maintain their server and website, still TDS will be deducted from your bill. In order to claim your TDS, you have to file your income tax return. The amount of TDS deducted by your client will get reflected in FORM 26AS (provided client has deposited this amount with government). You just need to obtain form 16 from your client as a proof of deduction of TDS, Then on filling of return of income same can be claimed by you
