Current vat cst number surrender and getting new numbers

Dear Expert,

My client want to surrender his current VAT & CST (in Gujarat) numbers surrendered, having proprierorship firm. He wants to apply for fresh/ new VAT/CST No for his Proprietorship Firm. In past he was having Partnership Firm. Currently having proprietorship Firm since many years.

Surrender of current numbers and getting new Numbers will cause any problem or not as his business is continuing and he will run the same business in new VAT / CST numbers. And what will be the treatment for VAT/ CST deposits currently having with Sales Tax Dept. and for giving new deposit for both numbers?
