Credit card loan entry - tally

HI,

Okey this one is messy. I use tally for my personal accounting. Now i have a credit card of X bank which my friend John use and i also do some transactions from that card. Now everymonth he uses the card, when statement generates i debit his account and when he pays i credit his account accordingly. So this way i know how much he owes me everymonth and also my credit card account is tallied. Now the Tricky part his here. This month he has purchased a laptop through credit card and converted the same into EMI from bank. Now how do i manage a loan account for which everymonth a EMI gets debited from my credit card for which in turn i debit my friend account and for which in turn he pays me without affecting my personal expenses.

for example the laptop value Rs. 50000

Credit card dr 50000

To bank  cr 50000

being laptop purchased thorugh credit card

EMI laptop -  credit card a/c dr 50000

credit card Rs. 50000

being the laptop value converted to emi

Cash dr 5000

emi laptop Rs.5000

being cash received from friend regarding emi

emi laptop dr Rs.5000

Cash Rs. 5000

being cash paid to credit card for EMI

This doesnt affect my assets where  50k loan is an asset for me that my friend has to pay me.

if you want to maintaint the asset you can pass the simple jv entry

Labtop - assets a/c dr. 50 k

to credit card cr. 50 k

But everymonth as my friend pays emi , then my asset also decrease..

the assest won't decrease ., in this case you can pass the following entry

Laptop asset a/c dr. 50000

to credit card cr. 50000

Loans and advance (Laptop) dr. 50000

to Laptop asset cr Rs. 50000

if your friend pay the first instalment for Rs. 5000

Cash a/c dr. 5000

to Loans and advance (Laptop) cr. Rs.5000
