Cop with directorship

Dear friends,

My friend has just qualified CA and want to apply for Certificate of practice, he is also a wholetime director in a Pvt. ltd. co., can he continue his directorship with Practice? Is he eligible for applying for COP?

Before applying for COP. He has to give prior notice to the company for his resignation of Whole time director. But he can act as an director in part time. Like Non-executive independent director
