Convert numbers into words

Excel 5210 views 11 replies

Hi every one.

I am attaching a addsin, which converts numbers in excel into words.

Please download this file into desktop. Copy the same. open a excel file. Go to Addsin option under the head Tools. Then click Browse. As soon as the dialog box opens, paste it in the same. Then press enter. This addsin will appear as a button in the formatting toolbar as "Inword". Place the cursor in the cell where you want the words. As soon as you click the option "Inward", a dialog box opens asking the cell reference. Put the reference of the cell in which the number is typed. Then automatically the numbers will be converted into words.

IF ANY ONE HAS A DOUBT ON THE ABOVE OR ANY POINTS REGARDING EXCEL CAN CONTACT ME @ najaragnar1988 @ yahoo.com. I WOULD LOVE TO HELP ANY ONE.

With Regards

I have been using the addin inword.xla for a long time and it was very useful. However, the drawbacks are that when you send data in excel file containing an inword formula, the recipient also needs to have the inword addin otherwise it shows error. Also it did not add the word"Rupee" in prefix and "Paise" in suffix which is the Indian style of writing.

But I now found something better. This is a Program by

'**** Last updated 03-Oct-2003
'**** SpellIndian (modified on 20-Sep-2003 to 1) show Rupees to precede, and to show "" for 0 paise)

I found a program written by Mr. Yogi Anand and I am using it now. A lot of people who do not know VBA find it a problem to use it, so I have compiled it in an excel sheet and attached the same. The original function was titled spellindian, which I found was too long so I changed the name of the routine to "Rupee".

Just download the excel file and start working. It is as simple. If you know VBA then the routine is anyway available insid ethe file and you can always copy it to your excel sheet.

If you already have an excel sheet where you want to use the formula, then do the following:

1. open the attached file

2. Copy and paste all the sheets from your excel file into the attached file.

3. Save it back in the name you want.

Even if you send the excel file to someone it will still work. If you are working in excel 2010, then just rename the same in the new format as a macro enabled worksheet and it will work.

I hope you find this useful.

If you pass it on to others, just acknowledge the original author as a matter of courtesy.
