Facility to study from home...
It will help us to align our professional knowledge with the technical developments..
The present environment is completely tide up with IT environment. Once we gone through media we observe that almost all finane related frauds are happen by using system loop holes only. To avoid those types of loop holes we have to study CISA and can minimise those frauds.
A chartered accountant is invincble in the finance field. Ask a layman, he would say, 'Ha! Does a chartered accountant know anything about computers or the technology as a fact??. Agreed. But...A person is truly invincible today ifhe is a CA and a CISA. I am pretty sure this can answer all the critics. :)
While doing system audit an auditor should be aware of all positive and negative factors of system so as to enable him to perform his duties more appropriately and more correctly. CISA will give us the required knowledge to understand different system softwares.
Its important for a professional to be a master in all fields so as to ensure his independence! Today accounting as well as auditing is happening around computerised environment and I believe CISA will help to bridge any gap between manual accounting and auditing knowledge and knowledge required for computerised environment working . CISA will help a professional to be a true independent professional !
Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) is one of the most popular certification among the professionals through out the globe. CISA is a globally recognized certification offered by ISACA. This certification is very popular among CPA's or Chartered Accountants. ( Though now even other professionals are also seeking this certifications). CISA is beneficial to both- practising CA's as well as for CA's and professionals in employment. For practising CA's, CISA or DISA(ICAI) certification has become n important prerequisite for seeking bank audit assignments or audits of stock exchanges and it's members. This certification provides expert knowledge about various intricacies involved in Information System Audit. The organizations having large scale information Systems seek a CISA to ensure the effectiveness of controls in its information Systems. The scope of Information System Audit is so wide that the big four firms and many other CA Firms are now having a separate specialized department for IS Audit. So this certification is no doubt a huge value addition to your CV if you're intending to work in big fours firms and even among MNCs. So CISA is very crucial certification for both - a practising professional as well as for professionals in employment. CISA (being a globally recognized certification) is also beneficial for those intending to work abroad. Best Regards CS Ashish Pathak

Answering it from the Indian perspective, in past two decades Indian economy has gone through a tectonic shift from being a bulky slow moving manufacturing based economy to a rapidly growing service sector based industry.

So from a PSU based economy, now we have a fast moving MNC (both home-grown and foreign) based economy which runs completely on Information Technology based platforms.  IT and ITES itself is one of the largest contributor to the exports and foreigne exchange earnings.  Boom in sectors like telecom,  aviation, education etc has further contributed to the growth of IT and ITES sectors.  Not only this, today even the manufacturing sector is largely driven by ERP systems.

In addition to the above, even the government sector has gone into an overdrive to adopt Information Technology based platforms for most of its activities.  So right from Driving Licence, Aadhar Card, Income tax returns, excise/VAT/service tax, etc etc etc, every thing is IT based!!

What this has resulted in is a complete change in the way we do business and record business transactions.  No more big accounting ledgers running into thousands of pages!!!  And this is where the opportunity for a person with CISA qualification.  With ever increasing dependence on IT based platforms to do business, a CISA qualification has become invaluable to an auditor.  It offers, as a part of the traditional practice, a better understanding of the clients' businesses, a better control over the auditing processes and proper opinion formation.  In additon, itself, it offers a standalone practice of system audits - an area with humungous potential with  an equal dearth on the supply side.  For any CISA qualified auditor, there is a large market waiting to be served.

Therefore, it is the right time to enrol for CISA - for both the traditional auditors to expand their base and for the novice to open for themselves a new world.

Even phones are getting smarter now...why not charteteds then...considered the most intellectual clan...but tech savvy only upto using android...using tally ERP doesnt make you advanced....technology has reached another level today and to keep up we got to be techno functional...we hate ISCA, but we are surely aware now what is a LAN and how a digital signature works..! To get global, we need to cope up with the world...and as auditors and advisors we are concerned with not only the amount of assets on balancesheet, but also with the logic of deriving it and its integrity...there will be a day when vouchinh will be done just for sake of it...but the real forensic will be the system audit...CISA will surely help you with the life cycle of any financial entry from the time it is punched into the system till it is manipulated logically and legally to get the desired results...
