Quick Summary
An employee is seeking clarification on whether they can claim House Rent Allowance (HRA) exemption for rent paid on a property occupied by their parents. The employee resides in a different property financed by a bank loan in their spouse's name. The key question is whether paying rent for parents' accommodation, who are financially dependent, qualifies for HRA tax benefits.

Hra for which house he wants to claim
I meant the claim for the house occupied by his parents and he is not claiming for the house where he is residing.

No you cannot claim hra for the house where's your parents are living as per the hra act

As I am not understanding the meaning of your last reply, I would like to seek clarification as to whether assessee can claim exemption of the house rent paid by him for his parent's house as they are solely dependant on him.
