Choice or a Day off?????

Final 1190 views 15 replies

Nov 09 was my 1st CA final attmpt n i felt 1 day gap btween papers is not at all right. I really felt exhauasted after the MICS paper n cudnt concentrate on d remainin 2 subjects.

For those who r writin single group it is very much beneficial but not for those who r writin both.

It is better 2 hav choice in the paper than a holiday in btwn. May be u can hav few hrs of sleep surely u cant study full book ................

A day off is just a waste of time really......................

Wht do u all think?

I dont agree with you krishna....

I have given one attempt when there was no gap between exams... It actually exhausts all your energy... I agree full book cant be read in one day. But you can surely read more when compared to half day....

Again, you will have time to refresh your mind & become mentally ready for the next paper.

Third point is it helps a lot to those students, who have to travel a long distance from place of residence & exam centre... I need to travel 30 kms from my home to exam center... Around 3 hours are just spent in travelling to & from the exam hall... Now, you can advice, such students can stay in hotel room near the exam hall... I am continuously studying by sitting in my home, where i feel very much comfortable (I think all will feel so). If i stay in hotel room just for exams, i may not feel comfortable there.... I hope u understand what i mean....

Reagarding no choice, i agree with you that it was a hard decision taken by ICAI.... But it has not effected me much.... I failed when there was choice. But cleared when we had no choice.... Again, i didnot face any problem in answering any paper simply because there was no choice.... I was able to attempt same number of questions as before.... To be frank, it saved my time, because earlier i was spending much time on deciding which question to leave in choice....!!!!! Now that problem is not there... So could write more in that time.....

Day off is better.

I also disagree with krishna...

U r suggesting to skip anyone subject altogether...

I would love to fail but not to skip any subject on the name of option....

And the point u r trying to keep here is valid, but not in every case or in every subject and not also in every situation.. The thing is its the best option to have one day off between two exams... Because, its the only chance for every student to revise, whatever he has learnt, thoroughly.....

Moreover, if exams are conducted on very next day of one and the other exam, then its very obvious that students will become RESTLESS.... and i consider that during exams,

its good if u get bore rather than getting restless and loosing all the grip altogather..

I agree with krishna

day between the exams make relaxation mood, most of the students will not use the day before holiday for studying . if no gap is there between exams , the tension of exams will be over in a weeks time .

wat is not done in the whole year cant be done in one day. so the one day gap is of no use

Hi Ashok.... I agree with you that what cant be read in one year cant be read in one day....!!! nice quote man.... But i think no fool will waste one year merely because there is a day off before the exam... Second point is wther a student uses the offday or not, it is his personal problem... merely because a student wastes 'off day" does not mean that all students will do the same....!!! A day off is a must & I am thankful to ICAI for taking this student friendly decision....

Choice anyday

most of us who has written the exams will agree that the day off adds more pressure previously we were in pressure for at the most 8 days now its ateast 16 days. most of us suffer nervous break down.and most of the off day is wasted for me and many of my frnds think of the same

and whats the point in readin the whole book for idt and mics

Hi, Vaidhya.... U wasted Offday doesnot mean all will waste offday..... I think for people like you, there should be 2 papers per day... One in morning & another in afternoon.... Pressure will be over in just 4 days....!!! No nervous breakdown....!!!! What you say...?

Day off was sooo cool man...!!! it totally rocks..!!! its more of a perception & how u kinda tk it...

& ya options in ppr makes u feel a little better abt it... but still at d end of the day you hv to read d whole book once... U gonna b a CA rite... So u better kno evrythg....

Again we always nevr had options in accounts, costin, DT... its jus affectn law audit & IDT to a extend... which u gotta read d whole stuff anyways...

So in short day off is gud...

i am totally agreed wid krishna a day off between the exams adds more pressure and it is nt as useful as mr vivek sum othrs thinking. it is hard to keep the sme heat and attitude for 15 days. i m saying tht we can't take pressure but if thr r continuous exms and choice in papers. it cn help .in the gap we only revise briefly which is possible widout gap also. and mr vivek is talking bout 2 papers a day. thn it's a challenge mr vivek if u cn thn suggest institue and bring this kind of prov. we will pass in tht situ. also

Good Self-confidence Kuldeep.... Keep it up....

Thnx for all ur replies guys.

The only point which can be taken in to consideration is for those students who hav to travel a long way for d exam hall and a day gap is perfect for them except that i dont find any reason which is worth a look. Everyone has their point of view and they share their own experiences as mr. vaidhya did n u got to respect dat n cannot just write him off by just sayin " oh people like u blah  blah blah........"

I think some people just eat drink n sleep exams n they just dont want it 2 finsh quickly n they enjoy even if a 2 or a 3day gap in btwn 2 papers. Best of luck for dem.

The point is dat the process is so intense from the day of startin d prep till d exam date that u need it 2 be over quickly n not prolong it.
