13 April 2023I am delhi government employee and have only one child. Child education allowance received 27000/- (2,250 per month for one child) during FY 2021-22.
But some public websites showing Rs 100 per month for one child (1200/-). so which is correct about section 10(14) ?
Per month = 2250 or 100 ?

According to Section 10(14) of the 1961 Income Tax Act, special allowances are provided to salaried people in order to help them pay for their children's education costs and housing costs.

Children Education Allowance |
₹ 100 per month per child up to a maximum of 2 children. (This gives you a maximum exemption of ₹2,400.) |
|
Children Hostel Allowance |
₹ 300 per month per child up to a maximum of 2 children. (This gives you a maximum exemption of ₹7,200.) |
Reimbursement of some educational expenses are also allowed over and above the fixed allowance mentioned above.

Please check this attached circular in pdf format about 2250 per month children education allowance in 7 CPC ?
is this children education allowance comes under section 10(14) ?

Dear Kuldeep,
Don't be confused, you are getting reimbursement of education fees. it is not a Children's education allowance.
Hence, you are not eligible for a deduction of 100 per month.
entire amount 2250 per month i.e. 27000 in a year is taxable.

what is "Reimbursement of education fees" but i am paying school fees 80,000 per annum ?
According to you Reimbursement of education fees is differ from children education allowance and not part of section 10(14) then "Reimbursement of education fees" comes in which section of income tax ?

Total allowance = 27,000
Less: Exempt = 1,200
Taxable allowance = 25,800

What ever you are paying is a different matter. but you are not eligible for Children education allowance of INR 100 pm because you are getting reimbursement of education fees . its not a children education allowance.

You need to check your form 16, it will show you the exemption amount of 1,200. And be assured that it is an allowance.

Education Allowance is Rs - 100 Per Child/month, But You Can take Deduction in 80C Upto 150000/- for 2 Child
