ASK THEM ABOUT NATURE OF BUSINESS, GO DEEP INTO THAT. THEN SEE THE INTERNAL CONTROL OVER THE ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE AND MANNER OF ACCOUNTING, STOCK FEEDING, TYPE OF SALE LIKE BTOB BTOC HSN WISE SUMMARY. SEE MANNER OF ISSUING CREDIT AND DEBIT NOTES AND CHECK THE DOCUMENT NUMBER OF VARIOUS DOCUMENTS. MOST IMPORTANT RETURNS ARE 3B AND GSTR 1 WHICH IS TO BE FILED EVERY MONTH. SO BE FAMILIAR WITH THESE FORMS. ENSURE THAT THE PURCHASE BILLS ARE PROPERLY RECORDED. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT SALES BILLING IS PROPER AND NOT A SINGLE BILL IS MISSED TO BE UPLOADEF IN RETURN. RECONCILE botg the returns and also credit and cash ledger and liability register maintained u/s 50 with the books of accounts and apppropriate afjustment of the taxes. see whether client is doing interstate business and export import. then various other formalitiea like lut etc. is tgere. also see whether he is engaged in exempt supply then various reversals us 17 has to be made each month. also see capital assets used for personal purposes then also reversal to be made. also see creditot aging as acc to sec 16 reversal of itc to be made if paymnt not made to creditors within 180 days . there are lot of things i jave just touched a part of it. for other details please read all tge sectioms with rulea amd notifications
