Chartered Accountant with SAP FICO - Career

Others 15611 views 13 replies

Hi,

I am a chartered accountant (age-26) with 7 years of experience (including articleship, 2.5 years post qualification) in various accounting domains.  First and foremost, i am completeley disappointed that i could not pursue statutory audit as my key domain and working in a domain which is of my least interest is even more disappointing.  I have been trying to assess the best possible way that I could build my career.  Finally, I could think about SAP FICO certification.

I request your kindself to guide me in this regard with the following:-

1.  Chartered Accountant with SAP FICO - Is this a good profile in terms of compensation

2.  How are the job oppurtunities abroad?

3. What is the best way to get this certification and How should I go about it?

PLEASE GUIDE ME.. ..

Regards,

Vijay

COULD SOMEONE GUIDE ME PLEASE !!!

Dear Vijay,

I would like to share my experience with yo. I am a CA inter but have completed my SAP certification recently. And believe me i am getting it extremely difficult to get a job. Everybody wants an experienced guy having minimum of 2 yrs of implementation experiemce. The package for a fresher is said to be in a range of 3 to 5lakhs max. So you having around 7 years of exp would find it very difficult to adjust for a low package. However the cost of doing the course is low for CA's if done from e-learning institute. I paid a total of 1.2 lakhs since i was affiliated to the institute. But the time required is around 5-6 months full time with dedicated study.

Plus you told that you want a career in Statutory audit. So i don't think SAP is for you, 'cos its mainly an IT domain. Still if you can wait for  around one year for studies and job plus min 2 yrs for better package, then you can go for SAP. I assure you that once you get 2-3 yrs of Exp. then there is no looking back. But initially there is lot of struggle and i am facing the heat. The choice is yours. All the best.

Hi,"searching accounts", could u tell, how you cleared SAP Certificatin, b coz i m also thinking to....

can u mail to me rakesh.kesh881 @ gmail.com, expecting ur info and advice

HI Rajesh,

Being a CA student its not that difficult to clear certification. But it needs time and efforts. The passing % is 65%. So u can see its not that easy. There is an E-learning course of SAP which is a bit cheaper than the classroom training. Being affiliated to CA we get discount if we do the course from authorised centres. Details you will find on Institutes site. It will take around 5-6 months to clear the certification. But believe me friend, findiing a job after certification has been a nightmare. The industry demands experienced guys rather than certified guys. So please think twice before investing our time and money in SAP. i am still searching for job. So you set you priorities and then decide. If need any other info, please feel free to ask.

All the best

OK Thank u sir, for ur valuble info and advice. I already completed course and searching for job. i have 3 yeras of end user exp on SAP FICO. But i m not CA

Hi Frds, first of all nice to comment on this site. I joined recently. my heartiest thanks to all those who share experiences here. I want to know about SAP certifications. Wht are the future prospects of the job for abroad or in India too. Here as I guess not many companies have accepted ERP Sap either coz of its cost or of its complexities. Only large companies might hav adopted sap. Sap FICO is perhaps a good stream for CA. Wht role does a Sap certified plays? Share you experiences plz Akhilesh Kapadia

Hi. I am about to complete CA. I was considering SAP. But i have a big doubt about it! By looking at the details it seems to be an IT type course. Yes there is Finance module but this also seems to be IT based. What i am saying is, when we learn Tally, we learn how to operate it and not how to develop it. Similary i just want to learrn how to operate SAP so that when i am doing any account, tax or finance job, i can use SAP (if the company have that). I don't want to become SAP developer (IT professional).

So please make my doubt clear.

Can you please share your contact details.

I need to talk with you..

Thanks

Could u plz tell us now days which institute or organization provide quality knowledge and practical exposure along with 100% placement within a reasonable fees for teaching SAP FICO...

Hello! I ll be writing my CA final in may 2019. As an alternative career I would like to go for SAP certification course. How much does the course cost ? And what range of package we would expect for SAP Fico?
Thank you... I also wanted to know this

Rather than thinking about packages, first of all u need to learn everything and decide about your interest and choose where u want to make your career. Then u should look for your skills development and plan for next 3 to 5 years. Packages will be different from industry to industry but your skills & experience will increase your package.  So, rather than to packages first of all your skills development and experience utmost important to prioritize.
