Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the Goods and Services Tax (GST) applicable to sales from parts of Punjab to Chandigarh. It confirms that IGST (Integrated Goods and Services Tax) is levied because this is considered an inter-state supply. An inter-state supply occurs when the location of the supplier and the place of supply are in two different states or union territories, as defined by Section 7 of the IGST Act.

IGST will apply.

  • Intra-State Supply: Location of Supplier and Place of Supply = Same State/UT
  • Inter-State Supply: Location of Supplier and Place of Supply = Two Different State/UT/State+UT
  • Intra-State Supply = CGST+SGST/UTGST |  Inter-State Supply = IGST
INTEGRATED GOODS and SERVICES TAX ( IGST ) will be applicable.

For Supply of Goods or Services across States and/or Union Territories, then it will be considered as INTER-STATE SUPPLY and IGST will be applicable.

IGST

IGST is required to be levied as the transaction is inter state transaction
IGST to be levied as the transaction is inter state transaction....

In term of Section 7 of IGST Act , where the location of Supplier & place of supply is in two different states, two different UT, or State & UT , shall be treated as Interstate supply .
Hence IGST is applicable
