Changing mobile linked to epfo account

Hello Friends,

I have a PF account that has been inactive for the past 7 years. My account includes both employee and employer contributions for 10 years, and I also have a UAN number. I moved to the USA for a project and am unable to access my PF account through the portal, as I no longer have access to my old mobile number. I thought updating my Aadhaar, since it’s linked to the PF account, might help. I’ve updated my Aadhaar with a new mobile number, but it’s been almost 4 days, and the ePFO portal is still sending the OTP to my old mobile number. I’m not sure if the Aadhaar and PF accounts are linked or not.

Could anyone clarify:

  1. How long does it usually take for the mobile number update in the Aadhaar system to reflect in the PF system?
  2. Is it possible that the Aadhaar update won’t automatically propagate to the PF system? Do I need to visit the PF office to update it manually?

Any suggestions or advice given my situation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Sunder

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses the challenge of accessing an inactive EPFO account when the linked mobile number is no longer in use. The user, residing abroad, updated their Aadhaar with a new mobile number, but OTPs are still being sent to the old number after several days. Participants clarify that Aadhaar updates may not automatically sync with EPFO records and suggest raising a grievance or contacting the regional EPF office as potential solutions.

You may need to raise a request through the EPFO grievance portal or contact your regional EPF office if the OTP is still going to your old number after several days. Aadhaar updates don't always sync with EPFO immediately. Also, if you ever need a video convert to text free for documenting support calls or tutorials, AI transcripttion tools can be very helpful. Hope you get access to your account soon!

From what I've seen, updating your Aadhaar mobile number doesn't always update the EPFO records automatically. If it's been a few days and you're still receiving OTPs on the old number, submitting a joint declaration or an EPFO grievance might be the quickest solution. On a different note, I recently used a video convert to text free tool to transcribe a support guide, and it saved a lot of time when dealing with account-related instructions. Hope you get this sorted out soon! https://wayin.ai/tools/video-to-text/

Changing the mobile number linked to an EPFO account can be a simple process if the correct steps are followed. It’s helpful to ensure that the new number is updated properly to avoid issues with OTP verification and future account access. Tools like picture to transparent background can also help create clear visuals and guides when explaining online account update procedures.
