Change in syllabus scheme of icai

my friend is registered under existing scheme and appearing for final exams and as on 26th feb 2017 registeration of 5 years completed and now its question is that whether if he not re-register upto 30th june, is he liable to register under new scheme or he lies under existing scheme.
