I am pursuing Distance MBA in International Trade management from NMIS. After completing this degree could i opt for CHA license. Is degree valid for the same ?

CBLR 2018 Eligibility: Under the Customs Brokers Licensing Regulations, 2018 (CBLR), the educational qualification required for sitting the CHA/CB examination is a degree from a recognized university or a degree/diploma in customs clearance work as recognized by CBIC. 2. Distance MBA Validity: A Distance MBA from NMIMS is from a UGC-recognized university and is generally treated on par with a regular degree for regulatory purposes. It should be acceptable for meeting the educational qualification for the CHA exam. 3. However, verify the following: - The degree must be from a university recognized under UGC/AICTE/relevant authority. - NMIMS's online/distance arm (NGASCE) is UGC-DEB recognized — check that your specific program falls under this recognition. - CBIC may specifically require a 'regular/full-time degree' in some interpretations — check the latest CBLR guidelines or get a written clarification from CBIC before banking on this. 4. Practical Suggestion: Even with the degree, the CHA exam is a separate CBIC examination covering customs law, FEMA, EXIM policy, etc. Start preparing for that alongside your MBA. Experience under a licensed CHA firm also helps and is often a stepping stone to getting your own license. |
