Our client   supplying pipes (Drinking water pipes-ms pipe with cement coated)  to BWSSB and other company  now  our turnover reached 52 lakhs ( including   manufacturing , trading & Service Bill )may be we will reach 1.5 crore in march’2012.

The query is :

Whether  Central  Excise Registration  required or not?

What is the Limit for SSI unit?

Shall we maintain separate stock for manufacturing , trading & service

For Excise registration  will they include trading & service bill ?

Water supply pipes have exemption ? So when we provide the pipes to a company that uses it for BWSSB they get exemption..does it get carried over ? or do we get exemption ?

Do we get the  input credit reimbursed if we get exempt on pipes?

Please suggest immediately..

Udayji,

1) For registration there is not any threshhold limit is specified..any person who produces or manufactures is required to get registered.

2)For being a SSI value of clearances shall not exceed Rs.4cr...and exemption limit is Rs.1.5cr

3)Yes seperate stock should be maintained

4)Excise duty is levied on production or manufacturing of goods, so no trading or service bills would be required

5)i didn't get ur second last point

6)No credit will be available if ur final product is exempted.

Hope ur queries are resolved, but lets wait for others reply for more clarity.

Ritu has given elborate answer. I just suppliment. Registration is reuired to be taken only on crossing of Rs.150 L exemption limit. But when when you cross Rs.90L , a declaration in simple form need to be given to the AC. Trading and service turnover are excluded form the limit of Rs.150L . Separate records for tradinng is compulsory. Input credit is inadmissible while availing exemption.

Pipes needed for delivery of drinking water or water for agricultural or industrial use from its source to the water treatment/supply plant and from there to the storage facility are exempted from central excise duty vide Notification No. 6/2002-Central Excise, dated 1.3.2002. Goods cleared under this exmeption will not be reckoned for the SSI exemption of Rs.150L, but will be included in the upper limit of Rs.400L.

Nair Sir,

We have Registered as SSI unit  and we are purely Import & Export unit. Now as you said above for SSI units is that applicable to us also. As in our case  where we only deal in export & import when we cross respective limit of  ruppes 90L & 150 L.

as intially we are importing & exporting the material on normal custom duty payment. so excise role comes anywhere in the picture .

DHiraj

What are you importing and exporting  ? Do you manufacture anything ?

Dear Harshini,

What type of procedure steps you require?
For registeration,  you can simply register when your company exceeds the limit of SSI exemption Limit (assuming, in absence of specific detail, your product as product covered under Exmption notification i.e 8/2003)

Thanks

Karan
