A new structure is to be constructed, for which an old structure is to be dismantled.
I would like to know whether the cost incurred in dismantling of old structure should be capitalised or not, and reasons for the same

In my opinion, if old structure is shown in the books and completely depreciated in the year of dismantling, such charges should not be capitalised. Because full depr is charged to p & l. If you capitalise the cost of dismantling, again you will provide depreciation on such cost.
