I am facing a problem in cost of acquisition of house as explained below:
(i) I paid four instalments to DDA as detailed below for purchase of house
29.1.1992 Rs. 137550.00
30.07.1992 Rs. 110040.00
29.01.1996 Rs. 137750.00
19.07.1996 Rs. 110040.00
Possession was given on 01.01.2000 and registered amount was 519599.00 (Balance amount was not claimed by DDA due to delay in giving possession). Conveyance Deed was signed on 05.01.2000.
Can you please tell me if I can claim cost of acquisition after considering indexation as on 01.01.2000 (For example in 1991-92 index was 199 and in 2000 it was 406, so my first instalment may change to 137550x406/119 and so on)?
