Cancelling gst registration, didn't filed returns?

Hi,

I was registered for GST in April 2018. I export services to other countries and get money in USD. I have given no services to Indian companies. I registered because some freelance sites were asking for it. There was a misunderstanding that people who have turnover below 20 lakhs and who have GST zero rated need not file the returns. I didn't file any. Now, I get to know that I had to file returns. Since My turnover is below 20 lakhs, I want to cancel GST registration. What should I do for it. How much penalty I have to pay?

thanks

cannot cancel your registration without filing your upto date returns .

Late filing fee is 50/- ( both the Act) per day & it's 20/-per day ( both the. Act) in case of nil return
or maximum 10000/-

what should I do then?

If you are an exporter, you are eligible to claim refund of ITC, subject to filing of returns.
what is this Micheal MAHIZ ?
why are you giving those links in many conversations it's disturbing to communicate
Rahul you have to do below exercise of:
1. Claim ITC refund amount if you have availed any inputs/input services.
2. If there is no liability try filing nil returns for few months and post the turnover in subsequent months. This will not impact dept as you have no liability however dept may question the differment of turnover.
3. Request your jurisdictional officer to waive as your case is voluntary based registration where your turnover itself is not crossing 20lacs.
4. File all returns and surrender gstin after filing gstr10.
