can we find out the PAN and assessee details through efiling

our firm is a chartered accountant firm. We filed our clients' income tax returns online. And we sent it to banglore through ordinary post. But now we got a mail from IT department that they haven't receive our efiling ackonwledgement yet. And in that mail they just given the efiling acknowledgement number but they didn't give the PAN number. Every year we a lot of returns. So my question is can we find out the PAN and assessee details through efiling acknowledgment..? If so please let me know the procedure.

I think yes you can find with acknowledgement no.

I think it is not possible to get PAN simply by giving acknowledgement number. if anyone knows about it it will be of great help.

the procedure i have adopted to avoid similer problem, i rename the pdf file ITR-V (which i download right after uploading any return) by acknowledgement no.

for example if acknowledgement no of any return is 167815640131010 then i will reanme the file as "Ack No. 167815640131010" and save the file in the same folder in which the xml and xlss file for the assessee is saved

afterwards if i receive the message tagging NOn receipt of ITR-V forr acknowledgement no 167815640131010

i just copy paste the acknowledgement no in the search box and find the appropriate file within seconds.

hi ashwini,

procedure to find the pan & assesse:-

u just open the search box

>at all files & folders> All or part of the file name :- u just type *.pdf

a word or phrase in the document:- just copy & paste that ack no. only eg:176130560121110.

when it was modified>specified date.:- just give 1 year period. or less than that.

with that atleast u got the folder where it was located. & it will easy to findout the PAN & Assessee.

sorry aswini, i also tried the same but i didn't get the answer. another way i found is in the given ack. no. if u see last 6 digits, i.e. the opening number of .pdf file when we are downloded from the site, so it is a very long process but i think did is a way to find out. u just open all ur client's ITRV files & just see the first 4 digits & if i.e. equal to last 6 digits of an acknowledgment no. then i.e. the pan & assesse details.........

eg: if ack no. is 176130560121110

after opening ITRV file if u see the name file as 1211 then it is the that PAN & Assessee.

While sending the acknowledgement to bangalore,

U definitely must have prepared a covering letter and in that U must have mentioned the PAN no together with the respective E filing ACk no.

Well, you know that most of emai services provides search facility within emails. You can copy and paste the acknowledgement number. Once you will paste the same, it will show two results, first one for return not received by CPC and second one the time when you originally filled the return with PAN No. written as XXXP_1234X and the relevant acknowledgement number. You can match this pan no with the records available, since every PAN No. is unique.Hope this will sort the problem.It works good with gmail.

Sir,

I have only pan card number but not more detail like name, date of birth. i want to check is it true or not...

Please tell me how to find its details by using assesses's PAN NO.

call to cpc and tell your itr acknowledgement no they will tell assessee name then u can easliy find out.

CPC also asks for few other details like PAN and date of incorporation!!

the objective of privacy is lost if any details can be provided like that on phone. You need to have basic info like PAN, date of incorporation AND acknw no. Just one of it will not suffice.
