Can TDS claimed for 4 years back financial year?

My mummy was not filling ITR as she is house wife. I am planning to fill her ITR of last financial year. I just checked and saw that every year some TDS (around 20K per year) deducted which was not claimed by her due to unawareness. Can she file ITR for those years and claim the return??

You have to file ITR for that year to get the refund
TDS can be claimed now also
You need to file condonation petition before your jurisdictional CIT
Sec 119(2) (b) is applicable.

But he did not ask which section is applicable.

He asked a very simple question that only needed Yes or No.

@ Vinod Shankar Tripathi,

As of now it is not possible to file ITR.

Either you visit IT dept personally or wait till updated return ( ITR U) is released.

If you are able to file ITR then you can claim refund if GTI is less than BEL
Updated return can't be filed for last 4 years
@ Vinod ,

You may Get approval for condonation of delay and keep filing ITRs for past years

Eligibility for Filing Form ITR-U: Persons eligible to update returns for FY 2019-20 and subsequent assessment years as per newly inserted section 139 8(A)

Atleast two years may be filed under ITR U but practically need to check how it works since limit is 24 months but IT dept allowed from 2009-10.

If there is increase in refund then ITR U can't be filed .

Many practical issues araise

What you want to say, no practical issue.

Government allowed ITR-U for last 2 years only
But check the applicability, 2009-10 and subsequent years
Just check rule again, section notified from current year
